Japanese Pen Cases

A Japanese pen case keeps your fountain pens, glass pens and brush pens cushioned and ready to carry, display or store. This collection gathers pieces from several Japanese makers, each true to its own material: large desk cases of Sugihara washi lined with Banshu-ori fabric that hold about twelve pens (HALOP, Taka, Hyogo); 100% Nishijin silk cases woven in Kyoto in single or triple slot for a fountain pen up to about 5.7 inches (yurie, with Konkan Shoten); and slim steerhide leather cases lined with durable nylon that develop a patina with everyday carry (LIFE).

For display and storage, the Korindo boxes come from a maker in the Echizen lacquerware tradition: the surface is urethane coated and decorated with real gold leaf and mother-of-pearl, with Mount Fuji and sakura as inlaid motifs rather than wood or genuine urushi. The Maeju Yamanaka cases are molded ABS resin, fully felt lined. Keep the silk and washi pieces dry, and pair any of them with our glass dip pens or a fountain pen to protect what you write with.
